Gunshot victim tied to two overnight burglaries in D.C.

Washington, D.C. Two burglaries and a shooting that took place in Northeast D.C. early on Wednesday morning have led to the arrest of a 24-year-old man.

Around five in the morning, officers from the Sixth District were called to a shooting that had occurred in the Northeast, in the 4200 block of Edson Place. An adult male with gunshot wounds was discovered nearby shortly after. The individual was conscious and breathing when he was taken by authorities to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening medical treatment.

Detectives connected the injured man to two previous Northeast burglaries while they looked into the shooting. Several individuals attempted to break into a shop in the 3700 block of 10th Street, Northeast, at around 1:55 a.m., but they left after inflicting damage but not taking anything. Suspects broke into a shop in the 3100 block of 12th Street, Northeast, seized goods, and fled in a car a few minutes later at 2:12 a.m.

Robert Brandon, 24, of Northwest D.C., was taken into custody by police and accused of two charges of second-degree burglary. Whether more suspects are being sought has not been revealed by investigators.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to get in touch with the Metropolitan Police Department as they continue to investigate the shooting and the burglaries.
