Idaho State Police Arrest Woman on Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

On the morning of September 17, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Idaho State Police conducted a traffic stop on a beige 2004 Chevrolet Suburban with Washington registration at the Lewiston Hill Overlook on US-95. The stop was initiated due to the vehicle speeding, and it was observed that the Chevrolet was traveling alongside another vehicle, suggesting a possible connection between the two.

According to court documents, when the officer approached the Chevrolet, the female driver, later identified as 47-year-old Michelle A. Danielson, was reportedly rummaging through the center console while loud music was playing. Despite the officer’s attempts to get her attention by knocking on the window, Danielson allegedly ignored him. The officer then opened the driver’s side door and asked Danielson to exit the vehicle.

A drug detection canine was requested and deployed on both vehicles. The canine alerted positively for potential drugs, prompting further investigation. Initially, Danielson denied having any illegal substances in her vehicle but later allegedly admitted to possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

During the search of the Chevrolet, officers reportedly found a yellow zippered backpack behind the center console, where Danielson had been seen rummaging. Inside the backpack, three clear plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance, consistent with methamphetamine, were allegedly discovered. Additionally, two yellow pills identified as oxycodone were found. Two zippered pouches on the floorboard behind the center console reportedly contained multiple glass smoking pipes with methamphetamine residue.

Danielson was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of oxycodone, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail following the arrest.
