Lewes daycare employee arrested for child abuse investigation

Del Lewis. Following an investigation into an alleged incident involving a two-year-old at a childcare center in Lewes, Delaware State Police have charged a former employee with child abuse.

After an investigation into the November 15 incident at Beach Babies Daycare, which is located on Learning Center Lane, authorities claim that Kaitlyn Kachnovitz, 22, was taken into custody on Monday. Investigators claim that a two-year-old toddler was slightly hurt when Kachnovitz violently seized him.

Officials claim that Kachnovitz’s employment with the daycare was terminated on the same day as the alleged occurrence.

Kachnovitz was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 after turning herself in to state police on Monday. Until additional legal action is taken, she has been freed on her own recognizance.

Police have not revealed any information regarding the child’s condition or any possible follow-up measures by the daycare.
