Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama Brace for Developing Tropical Cyclone Approaching Gulf

Louisiana, MS, AL – Gulf Coast states are bracing as Potential Tropical Cyclone 18 advances toward the region, with impacts anticipated by late Friday. Officials say the system currently sits in the southern Caribbean and is moving northwest with a high likelihood of strengthening into a tropical depression.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reports the disturbance should enter the southeastern Gulf of Mexico midweek, tracking northwest. As the system approaches, it could bring heavy rain, strong winds, and hazardous conditions along the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

According to the NWS, beach and marine hazards, including dangerous rip currents, may pose significant risks to Gulf Coast communities. Tropical watches and warnings are in effect across parts of the Caribbean as the storm builds strength.

Residents in the Gulf region are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential severe weather by Friday. The NWS advises coastal communities to remain vigilant and follow any issued safety instructions as the storm develops.
