Maryland early voting sees strong turnout, with Democrats leading

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland’s early voting numbers reveal a high turnout, with Democratic voters leading both in-person and mail-in ballots as the state heads into Election Day. So far, 1,593,419 residents have cast ballots through early voting or mail-in options, according to state data.

Total Early Voting by Party

  • Republicans: 409,741 votes (25.7%)
  • None/Minor Parties: 268,183 votes (16.8%)

In-Person Early Voting

  • Republicans: 303,745 votes (30.5%)
  • None/Minor Parties: 170,228 votes (17.1%)

This distribution indicates strong participation across party lines, though Democratic voters make up more than half of those who chose to vote in person.

Mail Ballot Returns

In addition to in-person early voting, 598,756 mail-in ballots have been accepted so far, with the following breakdown:

  • Democrats: 394,805 ballots returned (65.9% of mail ballots cast), with a return rate of 70.3% out of 561,277 requested.
