Traffic Alert: Route 34 closed in Wall Township due to downed power lines, brush fire

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Both directions of Route 34 have been shut down near Belmar Boulevard and Wyckoff Road in Wall Township after power lines fell, sparking a small brush fire in the area, police said Friday afternoon.

The Wall Township Police Department announced the closure just before 1 p.m., urging drivers to avoid the area and plan alternate routes. Emergency crews are on scene working to clear the downed lines and extinguish the fire, but authorities have not provided an estimate on when the roadway will reopen.

“Please use caution in the area and plan an alternate route,” the department advised on social media.

The incident has caused significant traffic delays as responders work to secure the area and address the hazards posed by the downed power lines. No injuries have been reported.

Drivers are advised to monitor local traffic updates and avoid the area until further notice.
